Kansas City police said seven people are in custody after one person received serious injuries from a shooting in south Kansas City.
KCPD said officers were called to 7101 Longview Road at about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday in regard to a shooting.
Upon arrival a shooting victim, a man in his late teens, was located near The Bay Water Park. He was transported to a local hospital in serious but stable condition.
Authorities said it appears the victim was shot in a nearby parking lot and ran to the water park for help.
Kansas City police said at approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday, the possible shooting suspect(s) and getaway vehicle were located at a residence in the 3600 block of East 59th Street. Six people were taken into custody and another was inside a residence. A standoff ensued for multiple hours.
Police said around 2 a.m. officers found the suspect hiding in the basement during a search of the residence.
KCPD also said it appears to have been a carjacking as the victim's vehicle was located at the residence.
Detectives are in the process of interviewing those involved and collecting evidence.
