KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Operation Breakthrough is gearing up for summer school.
The organization teaches elementary-aged kids from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the summer.
This year, De La Salle High School donated its building for Operation Breakthrough to host the summer school, allowing the group to add more than 200 children than normal.
“Research shows that kids tend to actually lose ground in the summer, and now we’re talking about a much lengthier time frame,” Operation Breakthrough CEO Mary Esselman said. “We’re excited about the fact that we’re going to be able to bring more kids in.”
