Police ID 2 dead in shooting Wednesday night in south Kansas City, Missouri

UPDATE: MAY 30, 9:50 A.M.: Kansas City, Missouri police have identified the victims as Adriane D. Stanley, 36, and Demetrius Davis, 35.

Gunfire led to the deaths of two people Wednesday night in a south Kansas City, Missouri, neighborhood.

Police said the two victims were shot just after 9 p.m. in the 9600 block of Fremont Avenue.

Police say when they arrived on scene, they found a man and a woman who had been shot.

Both died on the scene.

Police say their preliminary investigation revealed there was an argument that led to a physical confrontation between several individuals.

That led to shots being fired and the victims struck.

Detectives and crime scene investigators are on the scene, talking with neighborhood residents and gathering forensic evidence.

No one is in custody.

This was the 64th homicide of the year in Kansas City, Missouri.

10 of those homicides have occurred in the south Kansas City area, according to KCPD crime statistics.
