UPDATE: KCK shooting victim identified

UPDATE Jan. 13,| Police have identified the shooting victim found in KCK on Monday morning. 

According to police, the victim has been identified as 33-year-old Irvan Cole, of Kansas City, Kan.

Police say the victim's family has been notified. 

KCK police continue to investigate the case. 

ORIGINAL STORY| 

KCK officers are investigating a homicide after a body was found outside near the 4000 block of Fisher Street.

According to officials, officers were called around 2:00 a.m. to check on the welfare of an individual reportedly lying on the ground outside.

Upon arrival, officers located a black male, who appears to be in his 30s, deceased outside from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police do not have any suspect information and continue to investigate.

Police also say about half an hour before they found the victim they received a call of shots fired in the area.

They working to figure out if that's connected with the victim's death.
