Police: Man robs Lee's Summit bank, flees in employee's car

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Lee's Summit police and the FBI are investigating after a man allegedly robbed a bank at gunpoint Thursday morning and fled in an employee’s vehicle.

Shortly before 10 a.m., police responded to Arvest Bank at 360 Southwest Missouri 150.

Police said a white man, around 6 feet tall and in his early 30s, entered the bank with a gun and left with an undisclosed amount of money and the keys to an employee’s vehicle.

Investigators are looking for the stolen vehicle, a 2009 white Toyota RAV4 with the Kansas license plate 259 CZC and a Kansas City Royals sticker on the front hood.

The vehicle was last seen heading westbound on Missouri 150 in the area of Southwest Ward Road, police said.

The man was wearing a black zip-up hoodie, blue jeans, black gloves and black boots. His face was covered with a dark-colored mask. He was seen carrying a dark blue or black backpack, according to the FBI in Kansas City.

Authorities are looking for a man accused of robbing an Arvest Bank in Lee’s Summit at gunpoint and fleeing in an employee’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Police urge anyone who sees the car to call 911 immediately.
