Preparations started days ahead of the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.

The route runs from Linwood and Broadway down through 43rd Street.

Along the route, Kansas City police cameras will be keeping an eye on the large crowds.

Police placed 17 portable cameras on light poles, buildings and traffic signals.

The police will monitor the crowds from a remote location then the cameras will be taken down by Friday.

“We know of no threats to the parade route," Sgt. Patrick Rauzi said. "You never know what someone may do, and with the cameras, it provides the commanders with the information that they need to send the right number of officers to the right place at the right time to handle whatever situation comes up.”

For a map of the parade route and parking guidelines, you can visit the parade's website.
