Police stop burglary in progress at Kansas City home

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police in Kansas City said they stopped a burglary in progress at a home near 77th and The Paseo early Monday morning. 

The homeowner’s girlfriend said the homeowner is out of town. He has a security system that includes video cameras and alerted him to something strange. The homeowner was able to watch footage remotely on his cellphone. When he saw three men inside his house, he called the police. 

Only 41 Action News was at the scene when police took a man into custody. At the time, police only called him a person of interest.

Police also found a pile of items outside of the house that came from inside the house. They included a large flat screen TV and DVDs or video games.

The homeowner’s girlfriend said police also found cars keys in the pile that belonged to cars parked in the driveway and garage.

KCPD said detectives will take over the case later this morning.

Police are still looking for anyone else who might have been involved in this suspected burglary.
