Police work slew of wrecks on slick roads

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Left-over moisture from Sunday’s wintry mix is caused slick spots on Kansas City roads Monday morning.

Police on both sides of the state line worked several wrecks, including US 50 Highway at 3rd Street in Lee’s Summit, 152 Highway at N. Congress in the Northland and several wrecks along southside Interstate 435.

A slick overpass blocked the flyover ramp from southbound US 69 to Interstate 435 in Overland Park closed while crews waited for salt trucks to clear the ice from the roadway. The roadway was re-opened around 7:30 a.m.

41 Action News Meteorologist Nicole Phillips says temperatures will warm to the mid 40s by afternoon, but motorists might want to give themselves some extra time on their drive in.
