KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Somebody stole materials from a Kansas City woman's porch, which she planned to use to help protect people amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Briana West recently received her graduate degree and got a sewing machine as a gift, because she wanted to start sewing face masks.

Her efforts were slowed when someone stole a box of fabric she ordered from her front porch.

Her Ring security system captured the incident.

“I was not expecting to just see a person taking something from our house that clearly. That was unexpected,” West said.

However, this is not the first time it’s happened at West’s house, where she lives with her husband and 8-month-old son.

West said it’s making her think twice about ordering things online.

“It does make me reluctant," she said. "I’ve started doing drive-up pickup and pickup services because I know I’ll get it when I order something."
