Suspect arrested after kidnapping from Prairie Village grocery store parking lot, police chase

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Prairie Village police are investigating a kidnapping incident that happened Wednesday.

According to police, a woman was taken from the Hy-Vee parking lot at 7620 State Line Rd.

The report states the suspect told the woman to drive to a location in Kansas City, Missouri. When they arrived he "battered" her and took the vehicle.

The woman was taken to the hospital and later released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Kansas City, Missouri, police officers in the area of Independence Avenue and Van Brunt Boulevard saw the car involved in the incident.

They tried to stop the driver near 6th and Cypress, but the car crashed into a tree around East 9th and Chestnut.

KCPD said the driver ran away on foot but officers quickly caught and arrested them without further incident.
