KANSAS CITY, Mo. — “Gary, sit!”

“Jeff, fetch!”

These are phrases two new dog owners may employ if they adopt puppies named after 41 Action News Meteorologists Gary Lezak and Jeff Penner.

The Midwest Animal ResQ posted a photo of a dog and her puppies to Facebook Wednesday afternoon, writing “these pups were born under the tornado warning on May 24th.”

Given their birth date, the rescue “figured they needed to be named after some of the folks who helped keep KC safe that night!”

The other puppies and the mother were named after meteorologists from other Kansas City TV stations.

One commenter on the rescue’s Facebook post wrote, “All I can say is that Gary Lezak needs to adopt little Gary!”

Once the puppies are old enough, MARQ said it will cost $250 to take one home.
