KANSAS CITY, Mo. – This won’t be a quick process.

After the Lenexa Planning Commission voted against a proposal for a QuikTrip convenience store at 95th Street and Noland Road in July, the City Council voted Tuesday night in agreement with the denial.

The 7-1 vote covered the rezoning, special use permit and preliminary plan for the store.

Residents of nearby neighborhoods expressed concerns in July that the plan would generate excessive amounts of traffic and cause an increase in nighttime lighting.

A QuikTrip spokesman said the company is hopeful of continuing to work on the project “with all parties.”
