KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Heavy rainfall affected operations at four wastewater pump stations, according to a new release from KC Water on Sunday.

The affected pump stations are the 87th Street Pump Station at 8810 Prospect Avenue, the Buckeye Creek Pump Station at 5201 NE Birmingham Road, the Birmingham Pump Station at 11011 NE Birmingham Road and the Burlington Creek Pump Station at 4700 NW Green Hills Road.

Wastewater from the four stations is spilling into local waterways because of the heavy rain.

Officials said the wastewater that is escaping is highly diluted because of the rain, and that crews are monitoring each station.
