Reward issued in gun store burglaries

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives issued a reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and recovery of firearms from those responsible for a string of thefts in the Kansas City area.

ATF agents working with police in Kansas City, Missouri; Independence, Blue Springs, Raytown and Olathe identified a theft ring that burglarized and stole firearms from at least five gun stores in the area.

Between July 4 and Aug. 11, ATF believes the same group burglarized Patriot Pawn and Gun in Blue Springs, Arms Mart in Independence, Centerfire Shooting Sports in Olathe and Hughes Defense in Blue Springs. In total, the group has stolen near 50 firearms.

ATF is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of those involved, as well as information leading to the recovery of the stolen firearms.
