KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Rae Payan, an expecting mother, had to scrape together some money to get her car window fixed after thieves busted it while she watched the Chiefs play a Thursday preseason game.

The 19-year-old parked on Stadium Drive across from Arrowhead to avoid paying the $60 parking lot fee.

When she made it back to the car at halftime, the thieves had taken off with a portion of her rent money to the tune of $300.

“Out of all the things you guys go ahead and do this and then the thing about it is, I have my ultrasound pictures in there so you had to see the ultrasound, you had to have seen the pregnant books in there and you would still take it? Like what made you think that was ok?” Payan said.

KCPD said they're investigating four cars that were broken into during the Chiefs game. One was parked in Lot E.

According to the police report, the owner showed up to his Jeep and found the rear windshield shattered. Thieves stole the owner’s handgun and sword.

The Chiefs organization declined to comment on the thefts Friday.

“Everyone has to work. I work. I’m pregnant, and I'm still able to work. There's no excuse not to work,” Payan said.

Payan said she uses the car for work and said it would cost around $300 to replace the window, not including labor.

Police are urging people not leave valuables in their car, particularly when parking at sporting events.

If you know anything about the break-ins, call police or the KC Crime Stoppers hotline 816-474-TIPS (8477).
