KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Homeowners in Kansas City, Kansas were robbed overnight after they came home to find a man and woman sleeping in their bed, according to police.

Police Chief Terry Zeigler said officers were called to the 2900 block of North 59th Street after the homeowners reported they had been robbed.

The homeowners told police that they went to check on their house, which they no longer live in. When they arrived, they found a man and woman sleeping in their bed.

The homeowners ordered the pair to leave, but as they walked to the driveway, the male suspect pulled a "sawed off shotgun" from his coat sleeve and demanded their car keys and cellphones, Zeigler said in a tweet.

They refused, and the suspect allegedly fired one shot into the garage door.

The homeowners then gave up their keys, and the two suspects fled in a 2006 tan Ford F-150 with Kansas tags, police said.

No injuries were reported. KCK police continue to investigate.
