Right now officers in Kansas City are investigating an aggravated assault. It happened in what neighbors describe as a quiet block, and ended with a family of 4 caught in the crossfire of bullets.
Officers in Kansas City responded to a call of shots fired in the 2300 block of Cypress. It happened on Larry McFadden’s block. “I’m sick of it, excuse the way I talk, but I’m just fed up with it.” Investigators say there was a disturbance outside a home that escalated and ended in gunfire. Four people were inside the home, including a teen. The family members told officers they heard seven shots. When they went outside, they saw several bullet holes in the home.
What’s disturbing to most living on this block is that there are a lot of children in the neighborhood. Miguel lives next door with his 8, 4 and 1 year-old children. “This is not good for my kids and stuff.” McFadden echoes that. He longs for the days of old, where people settled disagreements with fists and not guns. “I so long for the old school to come back. Nowadays you got kids in the house getting killed. I don’t know what it is.”
Investigators say no one inside the home was shot or hurt. A motive has not been released, and no arrests have been made.
