A Kansas City mother and father are frustrated after gunfire erupted outside of their apartment, hitting their window near their 5-month-old child.
Edward Pulluiam and his wife were watching TV with their baby late Wednesday night. He heard noises outside his window and decided to put the baby to bed in the next room.
Moments later, bullets started to fly.
"It was just pow, pow, pow," Pulluiam said. "The bullet comes in as I am in the hallway, hits the wall. I go [to the room next door], get my daughter out of the swing, lay over her and lay over my son."
Pulluiam lives at the Brighton Place Apartments near 25th Street and Cleveland Avenue. He told 41 Action News his neighborhood has been plagued with crime. Last September, less than 100 yards away, a man was shot and killed.
"It's not OK to live in a situation like this. This gun shooting and gun violence, it's real. It's real," he said.
There are security cameras outside of the apartment complex. It's still unknown if the cameras captured the shooting suspects.
In the meantime, Pulluiam said he hopes police presence will increase but is also looking at moving away.
"I got to move away from here for the sake of my family. Because the next time it might not go through, hit the wall. It might hit one of my kids, my wife or me. So I don't want that to happen."
Police have not made any arrests. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
