Silver Alert ends as missing Kearney, MO man found safe

Update: In a release sent early Friday morning, the Missouri State Highway Patrol indicated that Elmer Schulta was located safe in Kansas, and so canceled the alert.

Original story: The Missouri State Highway Patrol has activated a Silver Alert for a missing Kearney, Missouri man.

Police say Elmer Schutla, 88, was last seen around 2 p.m. Thursday leaving his home at 111 W. Major Street heading to a car wash in his red 2018 Jeep Cherokee with Missouri license plate 4RC648.

Schutla, who suffers from a heart condition that requires medication that he does not have with him, did not return from the car wash.

Police say Schutla is a white male, 5’5” tall, weighing 160 pounds, with bald hair and blue eyes. He may be wearing a blue and gray jacket, with a blue sweater and black pants. Schutla walks with a cane.

Anyone with information about Schutla is asked to call police.
