Skeletal remains found at Melvern Lake in Osage County, Kansas

OSAGE COUNTY, Kan. — According to KBI, a park ranger from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers found the remains around 5:30 p.m. while doing a routine check on an area on the north side of the lake called Turkey Point Waterfront Day Use. 

KBI agents along with the Crime Scene Response Team and the Osage County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene. 

More forensic examination of the remains is needed to determine the age, sex, race, and cause of death. Forensic anthropology experts from the Washburn University Anthropology Department are assisting in the investigation.
