NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Students and veterans will see a line of American flags as they enter Staley High School Friday.

This morning, students placed around 1,000 flags along Shoal Creek Parkway as part of the school's annual Veterans Day tradition. Organizers said it is a way for the school to put its patriotism on display and thank the men and women who served on the armed forces.

The school wanted to create a row of flags to welcome veterans to the premises. All veterans are invited to attend an assembly in their honor. It begins at 10:15 a.m. Friday at the high school, which is located at 2800 NE Shoal Creek Parkway.

The 2017 assembly will include a video highlighting students whose parents have been deployed or otherwise serve in the military.
