Student shot in finger, runs to Northeast High School for help

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A student reportedly shot in the finger ran to a nearby school for help, police and school officials said Friday.

Officers were called to the reported shooting around 2:45 p.m. near Van Brunt Boulevard and Smart Avenue.

Police said the student, who was shot in the finger, ran to the nearby Northeast High School to get help.

A Kansas City Public School District spokesman said students had recently dismissed for the day at the time of the incident.

No other students were injured or involved.
