KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City man was charged with murder on Thursday for a fatal June 2019 shooting, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.
Daniel W. Bean, 27, was charged with the death of 27-year-old Brent Barnes. Police initially identified the victim by the name of Barry Barnes.
The shooting happened on June 21 in the area of 84th Street and The Paseo.
According to court documents, witnesses reported a man walked up to a vehicle in the area and fired multiple shots. Barnes was killed and two others were wounded.
Clothing that matched the suspect featured on area surveillance video was recovered the next day and DNA taken from the items was matched to Bean.
Bean faces one count of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, one count of unlawful use of a weapon and four counts of armed criminal action.
