KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A 17-year-old Kansas City facing four charges in connection to a Labor Day 2018 shooting at the Sun Fresh market at 31st and Prospect will be tried as an adult.
Jackson County Prosecutors previously charged the teen , now identified as Santavion Metcalf with two counts of assault and two counts of armed criminal action in connection to the incident, which injured two people, including a teenage bagger working at the store.
A judge recently certified Metcalf to stand trial as an adult.
According to court documents, investigators spoke with a witness at the store who knew Metcalf from school and was able to identify him as the suspect. A review of surveillance video also identified Metcalf as the suspect.
Both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.
