Thieves are using the holiday season to help themselves to your deliveries.
Just days before the busiest shipping day of the year, reports show thieves are getting bolder when it comes to poaching packages.
According to insuranceQuotes.com, an estimated 23 million Americans have had packages stolen right from their doorstep.
One West Plaza resident called police after she tried to stop two people who helped themselves to people’s packages.
“They had cleaned [every porch], there wasn't a package left on any doorstep," she said. “The man had difficulties getting the last of his packages into the car which was quite full, the back seat was loaded all the way to the ceiling,” the homeowner explained.
She didn’t want to use her name in fear the two suspects would come after her.
“I'm of an age that I did not expect a physical confrontation and I was kind of threatened by that. The woman let the car roll forward so that I either got out of the way or got hit.”
She told officers thieves took off in a metallic tan sedan with a back seat full of stolen packages.
Kansas City police say in the last week they responded to nearly 50 reports of this kind of theft. However, police reports aren't always required for a refund or replacement.
But if these thefts go un-reported, these thieves go un-stopped.
