Thousands without power after storms roll through the metro overnight

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Thousands of residents were without power early Sunday after storms rolled through the metro overnight.

KCP&L reported 141 outages effecting 7,927 customers just before 6:00 a.m.

Westar showed 14 outages effecting 529 customers.

BPU officials say 14 outages effected 348 customers, and Independence Power and Light showed only three outages affecting 17 customers.

Shortly after 7:00 a.m., KCP&L restored power to about 3,000 customers who were without electricity earlier.
