9:02 a.m. | Kansas City, Missouri, police reported 104 calls about crashes since midnight. Including Monday's crashes, the total is 469 accident calls.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported 46 calls for service in the first four hours of the day, including 20 stranded motorists and 13 crashes with two injuries reported.
The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department reported just three crashes.
7:58 a.m. | U.S. 71 reopened to traffic just before 8 a.m. However, there are still roughly 10 crashes on Kansas City area main roads.

6:13 a.m. | A water main break in Prairie Village at West 75th Street and Lamar Avenue closed eastbound lanes and will likely freeze over, making the area hazardous.
5:15 a.m. | Road conditions around the Kansas City area did not improve from Monday to Tuesday.
Single-digit temperatures and below zero wind chills combined with snowy roads caused extremely hazardous driving conditions, creating an icy glaze on some area streets.
One example of the conditions was a jackknifed semi on Southbound U.S. 71 at 39th Street.

The semi blocked all lanes of traffic and a few other vehicles were involved in the crash. 41 Action News reporter Dan Cohen did report seeing someone loaded into an ambulance, but the extent of injuries from the crash is unknown.
Because of the dangerous cold and road conditions, many school districts made the decision to either cancel classes or move to virtual learning to keep students safe at home.
Anyone spending time outdoors Tuesday is at risk of cold exposure injuries. Cover exposed skin, keep emergency equipment in cars, bring pets indoors and check on family members.
