Two University of Kansas students who were taken into custody on rape charges at KU's Downs Hall have been released from jail.

The Douglas County District Attorney's Office didn't file charges against either man and requested additional investigation from law enforcement, according to the Lawrence Journal-World.

The University of Kansas police said a female student reported that she was sexually assaulted in the early morning hours of October 21 by two acquaintances in her room at Downs Hall.

The sexual assaults happened at different times.

Authorities interviewed the two subjects and, after investigation, booked them into the Douglas County Jail. They were later released pending further investigation.
