KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For the first time in 14 years, the official air demonstration team of the U.S. Air Force will appear in the skies above Kansas City in 2022.

Kansas City Air Show Charities announced Friday that the Thunderbirds, “America’s Ambassadors in Blue,” will take part in next year’s Kansas City Air Show.

The Thunderbirds, which were founded in 1953 and are stationed outside Las Vegas, will headline the show, which is scheduled for Sept. 3-4, 2022 at New Century AirCenter near Gardner.

Tickets are on sale for the 2021 KC Air Show, which is scheduled for July 3-4 and will feature the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

The naval air demonstration team will be celebrating its 75th anniversary performing in F/A-18E/F Super Hornets.

The 2021 KC Air Show show also will feature vintage World War II aircraft and the U.S. Marine Corps C-130J Super Hercules.
