Prosecutors have charged a 34-year-old man in a carjacking at a Midtown gas station.

On Tuesday morning, Teresa Brown had just dropped off her daughter and went to the Shell station on 38th and Broadway.

She pulled up to gas pump number three.

"I noticed the guy just standing there, and it look like he was about to do something to somebody," Brown said.

Her gut feeling was right.

"Before I know it he was around on the side of my car door opening my door and put something to my side," Brown said. "I did what he asked me, and I didn't say anything to him. I got my purse, bent over and get my purse. He said no put that down and get out of the car.”

Brown ran into the gas station around 10 a.m. as the man took off in her Tahoe.

She called 911 from a mailman's cellphone.

But guess what?

"I didn't have much gas in the car so he had to stop and get gas," Brown said.

Police spotted Brown's stolen SUV 15 minutes later at a gas station near 46th and Paseo.

Officers arrested Keith Hudson inside a cellphone store next to the gas pumps.

Besides recovering the stolen Tahoe, police found items they believe Hudson stole from another woman.

Brown identified Hudson as her carjacker.

"His head was down like he was shameful of what he did; he never looked at me one time," Brown said.

She wants her story to be a lesson for others.

"I just want you all to know please ladies just keep an eye on your car and your surroundings," Brown said.

Hudson is at the Jackson County jail charged with armed robbery and possession of stolen property.
