KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman is in custody after leading police on a chase through downtown Kansas City, Missouri Thursday afternoon.

According to a KCPD spokesperson, officers attempted to pull over a black SUV near Truman and Jackson. Officials say the vehicle refused to stop and was driving in a manner that was a clear and immediate danger to other motorists so officers decided to pursue.

The chase mostly took place in downtown KCMO and lasted about eight minutes before the woman crashed her vehicle near 12th and Beardsley. She then attempted to run on foot but was taken into custody a short distance later without further incident.

The driver was not injured.

Officials are still investigating why the woman refused to stop.

No charges have been filed.
