Wreck ends with MoDOT traffic safety truck struck on I-435

The MoDOT crew was working on the outside lanes of northbound Interstate 435 near Front Street when a semi changing lanes caused the wreck.

Initial information indicated a MoDOT worker was inside the truck at the time. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

A MoDOT spokesman said their safety team was being dispatched to the scene to gather more information.

2PM UPDATE | A MoDOT spokesman said that two workers were injured in the incident.

One of the workers suffered a back strain, while the second worker suffered a headache.

The spokesman said the crew was fixing potholes on I-435 when they were hit.

EARLIER | KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Missouri Department of Transportation worker had a scary moment Thursday morning when a semi struck a MoDOT traffic cushion truck.

Police had the two left lanes of the interstate closed during the investigation, blocking traffic back to 23rd Street.
