Wrong-way driver causes crash, highway shutdown

UPDATE: APRIL 15, 11:33  a.m. - Police say a white Chevrolet Suburban was southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided with a Black Dodge pickup head on. The driver, and lone occupant of the Chevrolet was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

The driver, and lone occupant of the Dodge was transported to an area hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

A motorist driving SB in the northbound lanes of I-29 at 72nd street caused a three vehicle crash and the roadway to be shut down for two hours.

Police were called to the area just before 6:30 Sunday morning when several vehicles collided just north of 72nd street.

police and emergency crews closed the northbound lanes of I-29 while they began an investigation.

One person suffered life-threatening injuries, one person suffered serious injuries.

Investigators, emergency crews and others worked at the scene until 8:30 Sunday morning, when the highway was re-opened.
