A KCK police officer and a Wyandotte County Sheriff’s deputy won't be on patrol anytime soon.

Officer Colleen Radford is charged with distribution of a firearm to a felon and child endangerment.

Deputy Andrew O'Neal has also been charged with child endangerment and criminal possession of a firearm, a felony.

Both were booked into the Wyandotte County jail on Thanksgiving eve and released the same day on a $10,000 bond.

The charges come after a lengthy criminal investigation.

According to KCK police, Bonner Springs police asked KCKPD for help with one of their investigations. Eventually that led to charges against Radford.

"They're going to uphold the law and abide by the law, protect and serve everybody and they're doing this?" Tammy Culp, one of O'Neal’s neighbors, said.

The allegations stunned those in O'Neal's neighborhood.

"I think when they become officers that they feel they are above the law, they have the right to do this and do that, but when it's just--you know--I don't like it, I don't like it at all. I don't like the fact that he lives close by," Lisa Simkins, another neighbor, said.

41 Action News went looking for Radford's side of the story, but no one answered the door at her listed address in Bonner Springs.

According to city records, she's been a KCK police officer since at least 2012.

Besides the criminal case, KCKPD and the sheriff's department are conducting their own internal investigations.

Radford and O'Neal are on unpaid leave pending the outcome of this case.
