KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A child is dead and her mother seriously injured after a crash near 4th and Quindaro Boulevard in Kansas City, Kansas.
The child has been identified as two-year-old Melanie McDonald.
Police said just before 7 p.m. Monday the child ran into the street and her mother ran after her. Both were hit by a car that was traveling westbound on Quindaro.
The woman and her child were taken to a hospital, where the child later died. Police said the mother was in critical condition.
Police said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
KCKPD is investigating the incident.
