Olathe police have confirmed they are investigating a former local theater instructor for reportedly being sexually inappropriate with a minor.
No charges have been filed, but according to former students at Christian Youth Theater, there were multiple students who were sent sexually explicit text messages and Snapchats over the last year.
"I know two, at least, and the week that I had gone to CYT about this, there was another victim," said former CYT student Zach Faust.
Faust said his friend came to him in early March, telling him an instructor had sent him explicit photos. Faust then told CYT management right away.
"it was one meeting with me and then the board president and they had a meeting with the victim and he was gone," he said regarding the firing of the instructor.
Julie Cox is the attorney representing Christian Youth Theater. She said the school took the appropriate action without delay, notifying parents and then the police, before forcing the accused instructor to resign.
"We want to make sure that kids are protected and given an environment where they can do some really amazing things," said Cox.
