One person is dead following a semi-truck wreck on 50 Highway.
The wreck happened on the westbound lanes of the highway around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
According to Lee's Summit police, emergency crews were called to the area of 50 Highway and O'Brien Road on the report of a single vehicle crash. When officers arrived, they found a tractor-trailer in the westbound lanes.
Police said it appears the driver lost control of the truck, left the roadway and struck the concrete bridge support for the O'Brien overpass.
The single occupant of the tractor-trailer was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as Alan Tate, 46, of Kansas City, Kansas.
Lee's Summit police said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
