The Royals and Salvador Pérez agreed on a five-year extension that would run through 2021, adding $52.5 million.
Many fans were thrilled to have the 2015 World Series MVP locked in.
Good news is hearing Salvador Perez signed a 5 year contract with the royals. Long live Salvy. ?????

Sometimes you have to do what is right. Salvy was so underpaid in his current contract and he deserves this one. Trust #GMDM #Royals

Not everyone was excited about the deal.
@royalsgirl16 It's a wonderful contract for Salvy, but as contracts go... it's pretty bad from a business perspective.

@jazayerli What makes you so happy about this? Salvy is great, and I am happy for him, but this is nothing but a bad deal for Royals?

Sal Perez is gonna be locked up through 2021, which means he will go from good hitting/great defense catcher to okay hitting/bad defense 1B.

Pérez, known to fans as "Salvy," started 137 games and earned his third consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove award last season.
