KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs already locked up a playoff spot with their week 14 victory over the Ravens. The step that remains is to win the AFC West, clinch a first round bye or secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
The loss to the Los Angeles Chargers delayed all of those opportunities but did not fully derail the Chiefs path. Here are the scenarios for this week.
Chiefs clinch AFC West division and Wildcard bye:
1) KC WIN + LAC Loss
Chiefs clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs and Wildcard bye with:
1) KC WIN + LAC Loss + HOU Loss/Tie
2) KC WIN + LAC Loss + KC clinches Strength of Victory Tiebreaker over HOU
The two games that will impact the Chiefs scenarios for this week are: Ravens at Chargers at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, and the Texans at Eagles on at noon Sunday. So the Chiefs will know what scenarios are available before their Sunday night football kickoff on 41 Action News.
