KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs fans are on their way to Tampa Bay to see the Chiefs play in the Super Bowl.

People from Michigan to Missouri are all heading to the sunshine state.

"It took us 24 hours. We left our house at 1 p.m. yesterday afternoon and we got into Boca Raton at 1 p.m. this afternoon," Rebecca Messerli, Chiefs fan from Michigan, said.

"I left KC on Tuesday," Jody Rhew, Chiefs fan from Missouri, said.

Rhew drove to Miami last year. So this week, he's taking a different approach to his road trip.

"Last year I drove 27 hours straight through. I only stopped for gas," Rhew said. "This year, I feel a little older. I gotta take a nap and let me get a hotel for a night and not try to prove anything. I will get there when I get there."

Messerli and her family are heading to Tampa from Detroit. They are doing Chiefs related things in the car to get ready for the game.

"All their hype videos, we play it really loud. When we pull into Tampa, we are going to crank it up and the windows down," Messerli said.

This is nothing compared to how much driving they have been doing lately.

"We have traveled, we have figured out over 1600 miles in 3 weeks for the last three Chiefs game," Messerli said.

Both families are not going to the Super Bowl. So, why go to Florida? The fans 41 Action News spoke to said "why not?"

"This way it's going to be all Chiefs fans all together. So, it's not the game but it's going to be like we are at Arrowhead when we go there every weekend," Messerli said.

"Either way if you're down here you have a good time," Rhew said.
