Incredible KC home built for man in wheelchair

A special Kansas City house is making a big difference for a man with special needs.

"It was a shock. In a million years I never thought I would just wake up and get in a car accident and it would change me like this, but it did," said Bryson Casey of the accident that put him in a wheelchair.

With daily chores suddenly a struggle, Casey needed a home that made everything easier. He turned to Weston Bennett to build it for him.

"This home had some things that had to be done for his needs that were above and beyond most universal design homes that we do," said Bennett.

With lights he can turn off and on with his phone, the kitchen features countertops positioned at Casey's height and a stovetop that can raise or lower to be right for anyone.

Getting downstairs is made easy with a lift that can take him there.

"Steps are my biggest obstacle," said Casey. "I don't have to worry about that."

Outside, the heated driveway melts away any snow.

The home took 18 months to build at a cost of $1.5 million. But for Casey, something this special is priceless.

"I think it's awesome. I think it's one of a kind," said Casey.  "There was a lot of time and effort put into it."
