Are you a Pickleballer? OK, we’ll get to that in a moment.

Out in Blue Springs, just off I-70 and Highway 7 in what used to be SportsCity, there is a new state-of-the-art place to get fit and have fun. The Blue Springs Field House opens to members Monday. Residents and non-residents can enjoy the facility at prices that make this a buffed-up bargain.

According to Parks and Rec Director Dennis Dovel the generous donation of a local resident, Linda Edison, made all of this possible.  There’s an artificial turf field for soccer, workouts and other games; walking tracks; top of the line equipment; and a Kidz Corner!

But it’s what happens on the hard-wood that may get the most attention. Residents lobbied long and hard for the Field House to include Pickleball courts! The game, which is a cross between tennis and badminton, is the fastest growing sport for folks 50 and older. Some of these players have already reached national competitions, so you know the courts at the Blue Springs Field House will be the place to learn and play.

If you’re ready to be a Pickleballer, this is the place to be! Watch the video above to learn more about Pickleball, and watch the video below to learn more about the Blue Springs Field House. (On a mobile device and can't see the video below? Watch it here.)
