Suspect charged in fatal stabbing over argument about money in KCMO

UPDATE 3:40 PM 5/30/2017: Donnell Allen, 42, faces charges in the fatal stabbing Saturday on 49th Street.

Allen is charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Officials were called to a disturbance on the 3000 block of East 49th St. at about 2 p.m. Saturday. A man was found with stab wounds inside an apartment and later pronounced dead. He was later identified as Ali Griffen, 35, of Kansas City, Missouri. 

According to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, an argument began because one party owed the other money.

Allen allegedly told police that Griffen killed himself by putting himself in conflict with Allen, according to court documents.

A witness allegedly claimed the victim said that Allen stabbed him, according to court documents. Another witness also claimed that Allen had been in an altercation with Griffen earlier and taunted Griffen's family with a knife in one hand and shotgun in the other before police arrived.
