A father of two daughters is facing multiple charges after police arrested him in front a church in Ferrelview where they say he agreed to meet an underage girl.

According to court documents, last Monday he responded to a Craigslist ad of a girl skipping school who was bored. He also thought she was a 13-year-old.  But in fact she was a detective with the Western Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force.

Prosecutors say the messages got sexually inappropriate.

Dorsey arranged to meet her Thursday at a church parking lot where law enforcement arrested him.

During questioning, the 43-year-old father admitted to investigators "he had intentions on performing sex acts" on the underage girl. But said if anyone did this to either of his daughters "he would want to kill that person."

41 Action News went to Dorsey's listed address in Lenexa, but there was no answer at the door. A neighbor said he's lived at the rental house on the 25000 block of West 98th Street for the last year.

Dorsey recently worked at Creative Planning in Leawood. A representative told 41 Action News he is no longer an employee.

The Craigslist ad Dorsey replied to was part of a child enticement sting that the Western Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force does often. The unit was formed back in 2003 to hunt down child predators. Back then they found them in places like chat rooms. Nowadays it's mostly on phone apps like Snapchat and TigerText.

41 Action News spoke with one of the detectives on the task force. Due to the sensitivity of his job, we protected his identity. He warns parents that besides monitoring their child's Internet and phone activity, they need to know that most child predators have something in common.

"They know as a predator if they can turn the child against their parents, they can use that to groom that child into befriending them for them to make them a victim," the detective said.

Once caught, the suspects' excuses vary.

"[They say] 'I wasn't going go take any action, I just wanted to talk to them and see what kind of person they were.' I have heard a lot of things, even, 'I was in the neighborhood just selling Bibles,'" the detective said.

The investigator adds parents need to talk to their kids because if not, some else will.

Dorsey is being held on a $100,000 bond. His next court date is set for May 3 at 9 a.m.
