Police say suspicious death being investigated as homicide in Kansas City

Police said a suspicious death is being investigated as a homicide on Tuesday.

Officers were dispatched on an accident/ambulance call involving an unresponsive man lying in the street Tuesday morning. Police found the man, who was dead when they arrived.

Police have identified the victim as Jaime Patton, 28. 

Police said Patton was shot to death. 

Patton was a staff member in the Belton School District. The district released the following statement: 

Jaime Patton, Technology Department Technician, was a well-loved colleague in the Belton School District family.  He was selected as the Technology Support Staff Member of the Year in 2016.  Jaime started with the district in the fall of the 2012 school year, and was known for having a calm and reassuring demeanor, instilling trust in all of his work relationships.  Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
