KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person was hospitalized after a fire Sunday at a Lee’s Summit apartment complex.
Crews responded at 7:12 p.m. to the 1500 block of Southwest Manor Lake Drive in the Manor Homes of Arborwalk. Upon arrival, smoke was showing from a first-floor apartment unit in a two-story, 10-unit building.
Neighbors helped the tenant of the affected unit escape to safety, according to a news release.
Firefighters extinguished a blaze in the bedroom, and the fire did not spread to other units.
The cause of the fire still is under investigation.
