Niko Reynolds is one of several people whose yard is in between both the River Oaks golf course and the Little Blue River, where the flooding occurred.
“I had just left for vacation, then I got a call at 4 a.m. that the entire neighborhood is under water,” Reynolds said.
“Before, it's gotten up to here,” Reynolds said as she pointed to the lower part of her backyard. “And it was bad. But to get all the way up to the house, you knew that it was bad.”
Right down the street on Merrywood Circle, Chrissie Prescott said she’s now cleaning up the house her family moved into one year ago today.
“Ripping out walls, replacing floors, installation as you can see. Cabinets, bathrooms, just everything,” Prescott said. “At one point my little baby was like, he saw the water and his little flip flops were just floating and he was like water and now every time he sees water...I don't know if it's devastated him.”

As of now, damage assessments are taking place. Grandview Fire Marshal Lew Austin said there’s about $1.3 million to $1.6 million in damages.
“Majority of the people we talked to do not have flood insurance,” Austin said. “Right now, we're just collecting data to see if they would be eligible for FEMA assistance. Right now the Red Cross has been providing a tremendous job providing assistance.”

10-14: cars flooded
$1,300,000-$1,600,000 in damage (doesn't include personal property and any damage to City property)
The city stated it expects those damage estimates to increase because that number doesn’t include personal property or any damage to city property.
