KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Fire damaged a Kansas City upholstery shop Saturday at East 63rd and Oak Streets.

Fire crews were sent to the business about 2:30 p.m. and found thick smoke coming from the building.

Firefighters went inside and knocked down the fire in about 20 minutes.

Crews prevented the fire from spreading to other businesses in the strip mall, according to Deputy Fire Chief Jimmie Walker.

Two nearby businesses suffered smoke damage.

No one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
