A lot of people were upset last month when a Kansas City concert was canceled due to severe weather. Now the organizers have announced a new date, but it looks as though the forecast is not much better for that.

"I need a refund is the first thing that went to my mind," said DeAngela Kennar, a Funk Fest ticket holder.

Kenner isn’t the only one wanting her money back after Funk Fest at Providence Amphitheatre in June. After spending $200.00, she said it was canceled 25 minutes into the show.

"Ticketmaster stated that they were not issuing refunds; the promoter Leo Bennett said that we saw half of a concert," said Kennar.

After much backlash, the concert promoters Variety Entertainment announced on Monday they had a new venue and new concert date.

Variety Entertainment said Funk Fest Vol. 2 will be held at Kaw Point Park on August 19. According to the city of Kansas City, Kansas, that’s not the case.

"My gut feeling instantly told me that it's not happening," said Kennar. "I was like it's not going to happen, it sounds good but it didn't sound promising."

KCK Unified Government said this concert was news to them. Spokesman Edwin Birch said Variety Entertainment did not complete the proper steps to hold the event at the park.

"The first word that came to my mind when I found at that they did not file the proper paperwork was scam," said Kennar.

Birch stated that the park cannot hold or accommodate the number of people expected to attend.

"There's no way 6,000 plus people, even 3,000, even 1,000 people could not park on this businesses area," said Kennar.

Kennar said she’s reached out to Funk Fest via Facebook.

"I didn't get a response through Facebook, however my comments did get blocked once I started posting to let people know, hey, that venue is not it, they canceled it, the venue's not having it," said Kennar.

Before this Funk Fest fiasco, seeing some of her favorite artists was something Kennar was looking forward to.

"If you think you've got a chance to see them and it's all a scam, it's heartbreaking you know," said Kennar.

Now, she said she’ll keep fighting for herself and for others.

"My complaint to the attorney general will go in today because you know, there's power in numbers," said Kennar.

Birch said KCK’s Park and Recreation District is offering to help Variety Entertainment find a new, suitable venue.

Tickets for the concert were scheduled to go on sale Friday. Variety Entertainment's Public Relations Manager Jessica Manning said tickets will not go on sale until the venue issue is solved.
