If you forgot something on the Kansas City Streetcar, it might not be lost forever.

People waited on another hot day to ride the streetcar at Union Station. Among them is Don Green from Bonner Springs. It's the first time for the seasoned traveler.

"I ride on airplanes a lot and I've forgotten jackets and portfolios, it's easy to do," Green said.

However, it’s a different story if he forgets something on the streetcar - all because of a little room that you may be miss walking into The “Kite” Singleton Yard.

Donna Mandelbaum, the communications manager for the KC Streetcar Authority, showed 41 Action News around the lost and found room where all the items are well documented in a log book.

"The streetcar it came off of, who the operator was at the time and a description so that we can match this with the items that are here and have tags on them," Mandelbaum said, describing the log entries.

Now its seventh week of operations, more than 300,000 people have taken a trip on the streetcar.

Among the lost items, a rider forgot their sneakers, socks and a bar of soap.

The streetcar based its lost and found system after the KCATA. Similar to them, after a certain time the items in the lost and found room will be donated to charity.

While it's bare now, it won't be for long.

"As the summer goes on as the years go on, this world may have to be relocated into a bigger area," Mandelbaum said.
